Robert “Bob” Lowery, 46, from Houston disappeared in August while visiting the vast Bridger-Teton National Forest near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, where Petito’s remains were also found.

According to NBC News, like Petito, Lowery had recently quit his job to go traveling on a series of hiking and camping trips across the U.S before planning to embark on a new work venture upon his return.

However, his family grew concerned and filed a missing persons report after the father-of-two stopped contacting his two children, aged 10 and 15.

Lowery was last seen on video on August 19 at Piste Mountain Bistro at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Teton Village though it was discovered that he also took a Lyft to Pearl Street Bagels in Wilson the following morning.

The coverage afforded to the Petito case, which put Teton County back in the news, prompted renewed interest in the disappearance of Lowery and, according to Teton County Search and Rescue, ultimately led to his discovery.

A search-and-rescue team comprising of 25 volunteers and three dog teams was deployed to the base of Teton Pass after the authorities received new clues to Lowery’s case, which they directly attributed to the Petito coverage.

“The widespread news coverage of the Gabby Petito search helped bring light to Lowery’s case, and resulted in at least two members of the public calling local authorities this past weekend with new information about his possible last seen point,” Teton County Search and Rescue said on Tuesday.

“The new information put Lowery on the Black Canyon Trail, wearing a black baseball cap with a gold P, and carrying a black duffel bag with the Nike logo.”

The volunteers split into seven teams and began combing through the area around the Black Canyon, which is a popular hiking and mountain biking trail in the region.

After four hours of searching, a dog team eventually located a body along with a black Nike duffel bag significantly off the trail on a steep, wooden slope.

The body, which fits Lowery’s description, was subsequently recovered from the mountainside.

Authorities say the cause of death is not yet known and that Lowery’s family has been notified while they wait for the body to be formally identified.

The search team hiked over 75 miles, covering 22,500 feet in elevation during the extensive search.

Teton County Search and Rescue thanked those who helped in the search and sent “its most sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.”

Newsweek has contacted Lowery’s family for comment.

Petito’s case also sparked renewed interest in the unsolved disappearance of Arizona man Daniel Robinson as well as that of 30-year-old Lauren Cho who was last seen leaving her home in California’s Yucca Valley.

In a statement issued to Newsweek, the Lowery family said they were awaiting the results of the Teton County coroner’s report.

“At this time, we especially want to thank Teton County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Sachse and his department for all of their work during this month that Bob has been missing,” they said.

“We also appreciate the search by Teton County Search and Rescue volunteer teams and the care and concern demonstrated by so many in the Jackson Hole news media and community. We also thank you all for your support and prayers.

“Bob has been a wonderful father, son, brother, and friend. Our family wants to thank the news media and others involved in the search for our privacy at this difficult time.”
