One such person shows exactly how that’s possible in Episode 4 of the HBO hit: Mysaria, who is also known as the White Worm.

Mysaria, played by Sonoya Mizuno, was first introduced in the pilot of the Game of Thrones prequel series, but she came back with a vengeance in the latest episode.

How the White Worm in ‘House of the Dragon’ Could Become a Pivotal Player

Mysaria was the paramour of Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), who he flew off with to Dragonstone after learning his brother King Viserys I (Paddy Considine) had chosen his daughter Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) as his heir in the pilot.

The pair’s romance may not have lasted long but Mysaria came to become Daemon’s most trusted ally in King’s Landing, though she showed how her growing influence could be used against him in Episode 4.

In the newest episode of the HBO show, Daemon took his niece Rhaenyra to see the city whilst in disguise and he eventually took her to a brothel where they became romantically entangled before Daemon stopped it from going further.

That didn’t matter, though, as word of their sexual encounter got to Hand of the King Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) anyway, and he informed Rhaenyra’s father of the event though the monarch refused to believe it.

The person who sent word to Otto was none other than Mysaria, who now works under the guise of the White Worm and has many spies and connections throughout Westeros.

In George R. R. Martin’s books, Mysaria comes to be known as the White Worm because of her pale features and her reputation amongst other escorts, and her full nickname is Misery, the White Worm.

Despite her apparent betrayal of trust with Daemon, Mysaria will prove to be a pivotal player in the forthcoming Dance of the Dragons—the civil war that is set to break out amongst the Targaryen family following the death of King Viserys I.

As explained in Martin’s book The World of Ice and Fire and Fire and Blood, which the show is based on, Mysaria becomes Daemon’s mistress of whisperers and she helps him seek revenge following the death of one of Rhaenyra’s children during the civil war.

This turn of events will no doubt come to pass in House of the Dragon, meaning that Mysaria will be a very important character to the story in future episodes and seasons.

House of the Dragon airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.
