If you’re looking to try out a new email client and a well-rounded calendar is high on your list of priorities, or you’re new to Spark and looking to get the hang of this feature, read on to learn more.
How to Enable the Calendar in Spark
When you look in Spark’s sidebar, you should see the Calendar tab near the top, below your inboxes. If not, you need to set up the option in your account.
To do so, go to the Spark menu in the top-left of your screen and select Preferences.
In the Preferences menu, head over to the Calendar tab, and you’ll see a list of settings. At the top, you’ll find the option Enable calendar for where you can tick the box beside the address you’d like to associate your calendar with.
While you’re there, Spark gives you plenty of ways you can customize your calendar to suit your needs. For example, you can choose how many hours you want to show at a time, which day of the week you’d like to start your calendar on, how long you want your events to be by default, and more.
If you’re adding more than one address, you can click Manage Calendars to select different colors and tell your appointments apart.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that your Spark calendar will sync events from Google, Exchange, or iCloud calendars associated with your email address.
Using the Calendar in Spark
Spark offers many excellent features that are worth checking out. The calendar is just one of them. The limited interface makes it more user-friendly, allowing you to create, remove, or modify events easily, with just the right amount of space for detail.
To add an event, simply click the date and time you’d like to reserve, and the event panel will pop up. Here, you can add a title, adjust the time, and add details for your invitees if others will be attending—if you’re stuck on creating an agenda, you can follow this guide for writing one Google Calendar while using Spark.
Once it’s ready and you hit Create, the event will appear in your calendar, and Spark will send out invitations to those you’ve included.
Editing an event is very much the same. Double-click the block, and a pop-up will give you a quick overview of the event. Here, you’ll have the option to edit or delete it. Selecting edit brings up the event panel where you can make changes and click Update once complete.
Creating Additional Calendars in Spark
If you want separate calendars for things like reminders and time blocking, you can create additional calendars in Spark. You’ll find this option in the Calendar tab in Preferences, where you can click Manage Calendars.
When you select the add symbol near the bottom of the panel, a field will appear in the box above. All you need to do is type the name of your new calendar, choose a color, and press Done.
Now you can select which calendar you’d like to use at the top of your event panel when creating or editing an event.
