Gmail makes it easy to add a picture to your email signature. You can upload a picture from your computer, use an image from a URL, or include a photo you uploaded to your Google Drive account.

How to Add an Image to Your Gmail Signature

Including an image in your Gmail signature is as easy as choosing the photo and deciding where to put it.

With Gmail open, go to the upper-right corner and select the Settings (gear) icon. Then, from the menu, choose See all settings. Go the General tab and scroll down to the Signature area. If you don’t have an existing signature, select Create new. If you have a signature set up, select it. If you have Gmail set up to send mail from multiple email addresses, you’ll see those email accounts listed here. Select the email address from the drop-down menu for which you want to make the image signature. If you’re creating a new signature, enter a name for it, and select Create. Position the mouse cursor where you want the image to go. For example, if it should appear below your name, type your name and press Enter to create a new line for the picture. From the menu in the signature editor, select Insert Image. The Add an image dialog box appears. If you use Gmail for business, this is an opportunity to include a custom logo or a small picture of yourself. Don’t overdo it with a signature that’s too flashy. In the Add an image dialog box, search or browse your pictures in the My Drive tab, or upload one using Upload or Web Address (URL). Choose Select to insert the image into the signature. If you upload an image from your computer, the image automatically copies to the signature field. To resize the image once it’s inserted into the signature, select it, then choose Small, Medium, Large, or Original Size. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select Save Changes. The image appears with your signature on each message you send. Return to these steps to remove the image from the signature, edit the text, or turn off the signature.

How to Make Photo Signatures on the Fly

If you prefer, you can make a Gmail signature with an image while writing the email. This approach enables you to create different signatures for different recipients. Here’s how:

Type your message as usual. On the next line, type two hyphens (–) where your signature would normally go. Below that, type your signature information (it should look like an automatically appended signature). Place the cursor where you want the image to appear. Then, at the bottom of the composition window, select Insert photo (the icon that looks like a square with mountains in it). In the Insert Photo dialog box, select the image you want to use, and then choose Insert. To adjust the image size, select the image, then use the handles to drag the corners. Alternatively, click the image once and use the Small, Best fit, and Original size buttons to resize it automatically. You now have a complete photo signature.
