How to Add the Ring Doorbell to Google Home

The Ring doorbell is a smart, wireless connected device, so it stands to reason you should be able to make it work with other connected home devices. While you can add your Ring doorbell to a Google Home smart speaker, its abilities are somewhat limited. Here’s how to make the connection and exactly what you can do with your Ring and Google Home once you’ve completed the setup.

Before you begin, make sure you’ve installed these three apps on your phone:

Google Home: Download Google Home for iPhone or Google Home for Android. Google Assistant: Download Google Assistant for iPhone. If you have an Android phone, Google Assistant may already be pre-installed. If not, download Google Assistant for Android. Ring app: Download Ring for iPhone or Ring for Android.

In a web browser on your desktop or laptop computer, open the Google Assistant Ring services web page. At the top of the page, select Send to device. In the drop-down menu, choose the Google Home device you want to connect to the Ring. On your phone, you receive a notification stating you need to link Google to your Ring account. Tap the notification and complete the process by entering your Ring username and password in the authorization form. Your setup process is complete—you can now access Ring from Google Home. If you prefer, you can open the Ring services page on your mobile phone. Instead of a browser window. It opens in the Google Assistant app, and from there, you tap Link to connect the Ring doorbell to Google Home.

How to Use Your Ring Doorbell With Google Home

Tap the notification and complete the process by entering your Ring username and password in the authorization form.

That said, the two devices can work together. Once connected, you can ask Google Home to perform various tasks with Ring.

Now that it’s configured, you can talk to Ring via your Google Home. You can say: “Hey Google, talk to Ring.” After Google Home accesses Ring, you’ll hear Ring ask what you want to do. At this point, you can say any of the following:

“Turn motion alerts on” or “turn motion alerts off. ““Turn ring alerts on” or “turn ring alerts off. ““When was the last time the doorbell rang?““Start recording video. ““What is the status of the doorbell?” or “what is the health of the doorbell?”

If you prefer, you don’t need to start by saying “talk to Ring.” Instead, you can say, “Hey Google, ask Ring…” and complete the request depending on what you’d like Ring to do from the list of aforementioned tasks.
